  20. and copyrights to the Software and any copy made by you remain
  21. with Maine Scene.

  26. Note: Although these screen savers will run on systems capable of 
  27. displaying only 256 color (Super VGA or SVGA), the quality of 
  28. display is enhanced on systems capable of supporting 
  29. 16-bit ("thousands of colors") or 24-bit ("millions 
  30. of colors"). The quality of display also depends 
  31. on the resolution at which your system is set; the higher the 
  32. resolution, e.g. 1024 x 768 as opposed to 640 x 480, the higher 
  33. quality of display. A good display resolution is 800 x 600 with 
  34. 16-bit color.

  76. HOW TO INSTALL SCREEN SAVER:

  78.     1. OPEN THE CD-ROM
  79.     2. READ THE FILE "README" (DOUBLECLICK)
  80.     3. COPY THE FILE "ACADIA" INTO THE FOLDER "CONTROL PANELS",
  81.       THAT IS ALLOCATED INSIDE THE "SYSTEM FOLDER" ON YOUR HARD DRIVE
  82.     5. RESTART YOUR MAC
  83.     6. CUSTOMIZE THE SCREEN SAVER BY CHOOSING "ACADIA"
  84.       IN THE CONTROL PANEL  INSIDE THE APPLE MENU

  87.     1. INSERT THE CD-ROM IN THE HARD DRIVE
  88.     2. CLICK ON THE "INSTALL" ICON

  104.     Every effort has been made to verify that this product 
  105.     is an effective screen saving program.  However, you must 
  106.     be aware that this program is sold "as is", without any 
  107.     warranty of any kind.

  110. Troubleshooting
  111.     Many users of this product are comfortable in diagnosing 
  112.     and solving common problems on their own. We have included 
  113.     some helpful hints to make this easier.
  114.

  119. 1. General
  120.    1.1 The screen saver fails to install.
  121.  
  122.     If the Screen Saver install program (Windows) fails to
  123.     function correctly from the disk, it is either
  124.     defective or damaged.
  125.     The only possibility is to order a new one to Maine Scene.
  126.  
  127.    1.2 Are there any known incompatibilities?
  128.  
  129.     Customers have informed us that they have had problems 
  130.     running this scren saver program on systems networked using 
  131.     Novell NetWare (TM).  There are no current solutions 
  132.     for this.
  133.  
  134.     After Dark¬ has built-in incompatibilities with 
  135.     our product. Since After Dark¬ is a DOS resident 
  136.     program, it will try to engage even while a Windows 
  137.     screen saver is running.  The best fix is simply to 
  138.     disable After Dark¬ while you have our screen 
  139.     saver enabled (Windows).

  141.    1.3 The Screen Saver seems to foul up long printouts or other 
  142.        batch jobs on the computer. 
  143.  
  144.     If you observe this problem, disable the Screen Saver 
  145.     before beginning the batch job or long printout.  
  146.     Some software applications and/or hardware platforms 
  147.     have conflicts with screen saver applications.
  148.  
  149.    1.4 The Screen Saver seems to take a long time to recover when 
  150.        I move the mouse to try to begin using my computer again.  
  151.            
  152.     The image decompression software (Disk) is very
  153.     memory-intensive. In order to properly return control to
  154.     the system, that    memory must be deallocated. 
  155.     On some older machines, this can be a slower process.
  156.     While changing from one to another image recovering is not possible.
  157.  
  158.    1.5 The Screen Saver kicks out after only one or two images. 
  159.  
  160.     Most likely, the mouse has moved imperceptibly. The Screen Saver
  161.     is particularly sensitive to mouse movements.
  162.     We recommend that during an initial test run of the Screen Saver
  163.     you run it with the mouse resting upside 
  164.     down to avoid motion.

  167. 2. Windows 95
  168.     2.1 I get a message that reads "Warning! Memory Low!" scrolling 
  169.         across the screen.

  171.     Verify that Windows 95 is managing your swap space for
  172.     you, and that the hard disk drive is not full. Windows
  173.     95 uses a dynamic swapfile configuration based on the
  174.     local hard disk.
  175.  
  176.     2.2 The image appears pixelated and rough-edged.
  177.  
  178.     The images in the Screen Saver are designed for an 
  179.     optimum display size of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768.
  180.     If you are trying to maximize Windows 95 functionality,
  181.     set the display at whatever feels most comfortable for your
  182.     everyday operations.

  184.      2.3 Many of the colors in the image are missing.
  185.  
  186.     Verify that your display settings are at least 256-color.
  187.     Look in the CONTROL PANEL, under the DISPLAY icon, to view
  188.     your display properties window.  In the display properties
  189.     window, click on the SETTINGS tab and check your color palette
  190.     settings.  If your display settings are set at 16-color you
  191.     will not be able to view the images correctly.
